The Blackout Club (v08.13.2021 & ALL DLC’s)

A quiet suburban neighborhood becomes a nightmarish hunting ground when its adults rise from bed, sleepwalk through the streets, and obey a force no one remembers by morning. The Blackout Club is a first-person cooperative horror game about teenagers investigating that secret after a friend vanishes, while every authority figure dismisses their warnings as imagination. Its fear comes less from constant jump scares than from being young, outmatched, and forced to sneak through familiar streets that turn hostile after dark. The tone blends coming-of-age adventure with oppressive supernatural dread, making every ordinary house, backyard, and storm drain feel unsafe.

Up to four players take on nighttime operations, selecting an objective, entering the neighborhood, and gathering proof while avoiding sleepwalking adults and worse things hidden underground. Missions ask the group to recover items, sabotage ritual sites, plant surveillance devices, rescue targets, or document evidence, with communication and careful planning mattering as much as nerve. A useful set of improvised gear includes drones for scouting, noisemakers for distractions, grappling hooks for quick escapes, tranquilizer tools, and cameras that turn dangerous discoveries into valuable evidence. Characters gain experience and unlock perks that support stealth, reconnaissance, rescue work, or gadget use, while failure can leave a teen injured and vulnerable on later runs.

Its most memorable threat is the Angel, an entity that can only be seen when a player closes their eyes, creating a wonderfully unnerving co-op problem where teammates must relay what they see. Procedural variations shuffle objectives, loot, patrols, and complications, so even repeated excursions demand adaptation instead of rote map knowledge. The stylized suburb and teenage perspective give it more personality than a standard monster-chasing multiplayer game, while its stealth systems reward coordinated friends over lone-wolf heroics. Fans of Phasmophobia’s shared panic, Dead by Daylight’s tense cat-and-mouse pressure, or Stranger Things-style small-town mysteries find plenty to enjoy, especially with a regular group willing to communicate.
