The Evil Within (Complete Edition + ALL DLC’s)

A rain-soaked investigation turns into a feverish descent through hospitals, villages, laboratories, and impossible shifting spaces where reality refuses to stay still. The Evil Within follows detective Sebastian Castellanos after a massacre throws him into the nightmare domain of the enigmatic Ruvik, a place populated by grotesque creatures and lethal mechanical traps. Its mood is relentlessly oppressive: every dark hallway promises an ambush, every distant sound raises suspicion, and even familiar rooms can suddenly rearrange themselves. Rather than delivering cheap shocks alone, the game builds dread through vulnerability and uncertainty.

Survival depends on making scarce ammunition, healing supplies, matches, and crafting materials count. Sebastian uses firearms, melee attacks, stealth kills, environmental hazards, and carefully timed trap disarms, while matches let him permanently burn downed enemies before they rise again. Combat is deliberately weighty and often messy, so running, hiding, and turning an enemy’s own trap against them can be smarter than spending precious bullets. Green gel found across the world upgrades weapons and abilities at surreal safe-room stations, and the campaign mixes hostile encounters with chase scenes, rudimentary puzzles, and memorable boss battles that demand observation as much as reflexes.

Shinji Mikami’s influence is clear in the game’s old-school survival-horror priorities, but its unstable dream logic gives it a personality beyond Resident Evil’s more grounded outbreaks. The presentation swings from grimy crime thriller to body-horror fantasy, with striking set pieces such as a chainsaw-wielding executioner, a bladed safe-headed stalker, and locations that fold in on themselves without warning. The Complete Edition also includes The Assignment and The Consequence, which shift focus to Juli Kidman and favor tense stealth, plus The Executioner’s bizarre first-person combat challenge mode. Fans of Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill, and difficult resource-management horror find plenty to admire, though newcomers should expect a demanding, occasionally rough-edged experience rather than a smooth action shooter.
