Familiar faces from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors, and earlier KOF arcs share the stage with newcomers, creating a lively fighting-game reunion. Its tone is colorful and energetic rather than grim, though the story still leans into rivalries, secret organizations, and world-threatening power.

Matches revolve around selecting a team of three and defeating the opposing squad one character at a time, making roster order, meter management, and team composition matter as much as individual execution. Movement is snappy and offense is built around hops, jumps, pokes, throws, special moves, and the series’ familiar command-input combos. The MAX Mode system lets players cancel normals into stronger attacks and extended combos, while beginner-friendly Rush Combos provide flashy damage through repeated button presses when meter is available. Story, arcade, versus, training, challenge, and online modes give players room to practice, compete locally, or test their teams against other opponents.
