Most of your time goes into traveling between settlements and sects, training with masters, collecting resources, and deciding which martial disciplines deserve your attention. Combat revolves around learning techniques from numerous schools, pairing them with suitable weapons and equipment, and preparing for opponents rather than simply relying on quick reflexes. Outside battle, you build and maintain a home village, assign work, gather materials, craft goods, run businesses, and develop practical skills ranging from medicine to farming. Relationships matter as much as fighting: friendships, rivalries, marriages, children, sworn bonds, and vendettas can all become part of your character’s legacy, while randomly generated worlds ensure new faces and complications in every campaign.

What separates it from more straightforward wuxia RPGs is its enormous stack of interlocking systems. A quiet day might involve treating an injury, negotiating with a neighbor, improving a workshop, arranging a marriage, or catching a particularly aggressive cricket for an absurd insect duel. Its illustrated presentation and deep simulation give it the feeling of a living folklore chronicle, though the sheer number of menus and mechanics can be intimidating at first.
