The Wall Mustn't Fall blends hands-on shooting with an auto-battler’s long-term planning, asking you to hold the line through escalating waves rather than simply outgun them. Its mood is tense but approachable: combat is immediate, while the real pressure comes from making smart choices with limited gold, equipment, and recruits. Each run begins by choosing a hero, whose personal abilities shape the kind of squad and strategy you can build around them.

During battles, you manually aim and fire at incoming enemies, trigger active abilities with hotkeys, and decide when your hero needs direct control. An optional autopilot mode lets the hero fight alongside AI allies automatically, shifting the focus almost entirely toward team composition and preparation. Kills award experience, allowing units to gain levels and receive stat points, while duplicate recruits or experience-boosting effects can rapidly strengthen key allies. Between rounds, loot and gold feed into a shop phase where you recruit fighters, buy weapons and relics, distribute gear, adjust formations, and improve both the shop and castle.
