The Wonderful 101: Remastered follows the Wonderful Ones as they defend Earth from the invading GEATHJERK force, bouncing between city streets, ocean depths, jungles, and enormous cinematic battlefields. Its tone is knowingly cartoonish, full of sentai-team poses, comic-book framing, absurd boss machines, and sincere enthusiasm for heroic sacrifice. Beneath the bright presentation sits a demanding action game that rewards quick reactions and a willingness to learn its unusual systems.

Rather than controlling one fighter, players direct a growing crowd of heroes and draw symbols to transform them into giant “Unite Morph” tools. A circle creates a fist for heavy blows, a line becomes a sword, and other formations provide whips, guns, hammers, claws, and defensive options; choosing the right form matters against armored enemies, shields, hazards, and bosses. Stages mix brawling with environmental puzzles, platforming, rescue objectives, and set-piece sequences, so the squad might build a bridge, glide across a gap, drill through an obstacle, or recruit stranded civilians to temporarily enlarge the team. Combat can initially feel chaotic, especially when the camera pulls back or enemy attacks demand precise dodges and blocks, but upgrades, collectible heroes, and repeated missions give committed players plenty of ways to improve their performance.

What separates it from most character-action games is how confidently it makes crowd management part of every punch and puzzle. The remaster smooths out the original Wii U release with clearer visuals, stronger performance, faster loading, and control adjustments that make its touch-inspired drawing mechanic more comfortable on modern platforms. Replay value comes from hidden collectibles, rankings, optional recruits, secret missions, and the challenge of mastering lengthy levels without taking damage. Fans of Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, and flashy Japanese action games should find a lot to love, while newcomers should expect a wild learning curve rather than an immediately accessible button-masher.
