A pixel-art barrage of bullets, explosions, and oversized war machines drives this deliberately old-school arcade shooter. Set across a fictionalized conflict in Kashmir, Thunderflash casts two hard-bitten soldiers against a terrorist force armed with mercenaries, traps, armored hardware, and screen-filling bosses. Its tone is knowingly excessive rather than realistic, channeling the tough-guy action films and coin-operated shooters of the 1980s. The result is a compact, loud campaign built around immediate action instead of narrative complexity.

Players push through five hostile stages, firing in every direction, dodging incoming ammunition, rescuing themselves from environmental hazards, and learning boss attack patterns through repetition. Standard weapons handle the constant enemy pressure, while collectible special guns provide the burst damage needed to tear through dense formations and heavy vehicles. The campaign works solo, but local co-op is the better fit: two players can cover opposite sides of the screen and turn frantic ambushes into entertaining chaos. Survival and Boss Rush modes extend the experience beyond the main missions, while alternate endings and achievements offer reasons to revisit completed runs.

Thunderflash stands apart through its unapologetic arcade presentation, from chunky pixel visuals and explosive sound effects to Andrea Baroni’s retro-styled soundtrack. It does not chase modern military-shooter realism or deep character upgrades; its appeal lies in short, demanding stages where reflexes, positioning, and smart weapon use matter more than loadout planning. Fans of Metal Slug, Commando, and similarly direct run-and-gun classics should find plenty to enjoy, especially with a couch co-op partner. Newcomers can appreciate its straightforward controls, while arcade veterans will get the most from mastering its tougher encounters and chasing cleaner clears.
