A rogue dictator’s grip on 2131 rests on one dangerous advantage: a time machine that lets him rewrite the events that put him in power. TimeShifters turns that premise into a brisk, old-school first-person shooter where you travel back to prevent his rise while hostile temporal agents hunt you down. The tone is deliberately loud, chaotic, and arcade-minded, favouring rapid firefights, absurd side activities, and score-chasing over slow tactical realism.

Gunplay revolves around a large weapon selection, fast movement, and learning each mission well enough to survive tougher runs and cut precious seconds from your completion time. Nine story missions provide the central campaign, while more than 30 challenge stages break up the shooting with strange tasks such as pig races, Apache helicopter flights, firefighting, train chicken, and pub-game destruction. Levels encourage players to treat scenery as part of the toolkit: windows shatter, crates explode, plates break, pool tables can be used, and objects like fire extinguishers offer improvised options. Online multiplayer adds competitive modes including deathmatch, Capture the Bag, and Virus, making the game more than a purely solo speedrun exercise.

Its strongest feature is the mapmaker, which goes beyond simple arena construction by allowing users to arrange tiles, build multiplayer spaces or story scenarios, place triggers, alter AI behaviour, and customize a map’s visual identity. Workshop sharing gives those creations a practical audience and potentially extends the game’s life considerably if the community is active. Platinum medals and timed objectives reward replaying stages until their layouts, enemy placements, and shortcuts become second nature.
