A winding procession of tiny metal soldiers turns a Victorian toybox into a surprisingly moving puzzle adventure. Tin Hearts pairs tactile, clockwork-style contraptions with an intimate story about inventor Albert J. Butterworth, whose creations conceal regrets, family history, and difficult choices. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic on the surface, yet the narrative carries real melancholy beneath its miniature charm. It feels less like a conventional platformer than a playable model village where every mechanism has emotional weight.

Gameplay revolves around shepherding a marching line of soldiers safely to an exit without allowing them to wander into hazards or fall from the route. You place and manipulate objects such as blocks, drums, cannons, balloons, and toy trains to redirect their path, launch them over gaps, or create an entirely new route through each diorama-like level. Time manipulation is central to the tougher puzzles: pausing lets you assess a problem, rewinding corrects a failed setup, and fast-forwarding tests whether your carefully arranged chain of devices actually works. More than 50 stages steadily introduce new tools and combinations, so later challenges demand planning, timing, and a willingness to experiment.

What stands out is the way its puzzles are framed as physical toys operating inside richly detailed rooms rather than abstract logic boards. The alternate-history Victorian setting gives the world a distinctive identity, while voiced story sequences and environmental clues make the campaign feel more personal than its cute soldiers initially suggest. Tin Hearts suits newcomers thanks to its forgiving rewind system, but puzzle veterans will get the most from its later, multi-part contraptions and patient problem-solving pace.
