Combat trades old-school menu commands for direct real-time action: you chain light and heavy attacks, dodge telegraphed strikes, build power for special moves, and swap between party members when a particular fighter suits the situation. Battles reward attention to enemy weaknesses and positioning without demanding the precision of a hardcore character-action game, while quick-access menus keep magic and items close at hand. Leveling opens customizable abilities, and major class changes let each hero specialize into offensive, defensive, magical, or hybrid roles, giving repeated playthroughs genuinely different party setups. Difficulty options make the main campaign friendly to newcomers, though optional bosses, post-story content, and the highest settings offer more resistance; unlike the original release, this remake is a single-player experience.
