Game Overview

Cast out from the settlement that once serves as home, you survive as a hated outsider and turn resentment into a campaign of calculated vengeance. Unferat is a dark indie simulation built around stalking a living medieval community, exploiting its routines, and deciding how monstrous your retaliation becomes. Its mood is patient, cruel, and methodical rather than heroic: hungry workers, guarded supply routes, and frightened villagers all become pieces in a revenge plan. You can play as a skulking saboteur, an occult warlord, or something between those extremes.

Daily survival begins with gathering food, herbs, and materials, whether through theft, hunting, or careful foraging in an ecosystem shaped by weather, daylight, and animal behavior. From there, the central loop involves observing the settlement’s economy and striking where it hurts: rob a shipment, ambush a miner, poison provisions, or cut access to valuable ore and medicine until the town weakens. Four magical paths—necromancy, witchcraft, alchemy, and demonology—provide different tools for escalation, from toxic weapon coatings and diseased rats to undead servants and more direct supernatural attacks. Villagers do not simply wait to be victimized, either; mobs retaliate, opportunists pursue their own motives, and defending or abandoning your lair becomes part of the larger strategy.

What gives Unferat its identity is the connection between its magic system and its simulated village economy. Rather than treating enemies as disposable targets, it encourages players to learn who produces food, ammunition, potions, and equipment, then undermine the links holding that society together. The flexible pace supports slow reconnaissance and indirect warfare just as well as immediate raids, making repeat playthroughs feel meaningfully different. Players who enjoy the emergent planning of RimWorld, the stealthy cruelty of a villain simulator, or survival games where systems collide should find plenty to experiment with, though its grim theme and deliberate approach best suit patient strategists.
