An enormous Southeast Asian battlefield turns the Vietnam conflict into a sandbox of patrols, ambushes, and sudden combined-arms chaos. Vietnam War is an open-world first-person shooter that lets players fight for U.S. forces or the Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army across a vast recreation of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. There is no conventional campaign pushing you from mission to mission; instead, the war develops around you as AI-controlled units travel, clash, defend territory, and call for support. The mood is harsh and unpredictable, mixing jungle survival tension with the overwhelming firepower of the era.

Most of your time revolves around accepting local objectives, moving through hostile terrain, and directing a squad in battle. Orders let you position troops, change their formation, hold ground, follow your lead, or attack targets, making leadership as important as personal marksmanship. Radios provide access to artillery barrages, airstrikes, supplies, and reinforcements, while field bases can be fortified before an expected assault. Patrols bring their own hazards beyond enemy soldiers: concealed traps, tunnel networks, wildlife, fatigue, hunger, and the possibility of becoming a prisoner all make careless movement dangerous. Vehicles dramatically widen the options, whether you are flying a Huey, operating a Cobra gunship, driving armor, firing artillery, or taking river craft through the delta.

Its greatest strength is scale: more than 1,000 square kilometers of terrain contain handmade villages, military installations, waterways, jungle valleys, and strategic routes that support battles far beyond the player’s immediate position. The extensive vehicle roster gives it a rougher, more systemic alternative to the tightly scripted missions found in Call of Duty, while the squad commands and living battlefield recall large-scale military sandboxes such as Arma. Players who enjoy making their own objectives, experimenting with air and ground assets, and dealing with emergent combat situations get the most from it. Newcomers should expect a less guided experience, but veterans of tactical FPS games find plenty of room to create their own war stories.
