A dying world stirs beneath the arrival of the Red Star, and a newly born Simulacrum begins hunting the divine blood known as Ichor. Voidwrought is a dark, hand-drawn Metroidvania built around alien ruins, corrupted gods, and a steadily expanding mystery beneath a scorched surface. Its mood lands somewhere between Hollow Knight’s solemn decay and a cosmic-horror fever dream, with grotesque creatures, sacred machinery, and hauntingly beautiful underground regions. The result is an action-platformer that feels lonely, oppressive, and consistently curious about what nightmare waits behind the next locked passage.

Movement and combat provide the foundation, with responsive platforming, swift attacks, evasive maneuvers, and traversal upgrades opening routes that were previously out of reach. Exploration sends the Simulacrum through varied zones such as frozen waterways, a decadent corrupted court, and the biomechanical remains of a lost expedition, while more than 70 enemy types keep encounters from becoming routine. Defeated bosses yield progress and valuable resources, and 11 major fights test positioning, reactions, and mastery of the character’s growing toolkit. More than 50 Relics and Souls offer active weapons, utility effects, and passive bonuses, allowing players to lean toward aggressive melee pressure, safer ranged options, or specialized builds suited to difficult bosses.

The shrine system gives Voidwrought an identity beyond straightforward map completion: collected Ichor helps rebuild a cult sanctuary, recruit followers, excavate new chambers, and uncover rewards or secrets. That hub-growth loop makes exploration feel useful even when the player is not chasing the next story objective, while the layered lore rewards careful attention to environments and item descriptions. Jouni Valjakka’s foreboding score reinforces the game’s sense of ancient tragedy without drowning out its sharp combat feedback.
