Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr turns the oppressive excess of the 41st Millennium into a weighty action RPG, trading flashy fantasy heroics for bolters, power weapons, flamethrowers, and industrial-scale extermination. Its tone stays faithfully grim: ruined worlds, corrupted space hulks, and cathedral-like machinery form the backdrop to an investigation tied to a long-lost fortress monastery. The campaign gives the bloodshed a narrative purpose while leaving plenty of room for repeatable missions and loot hunting.

Combat revolves around choosing a class and building it around a preferred style of destruction. The armored Crusader absorbs punishment at close range, the Assassin relies on mobility and precision, and the Psyker channels dangerous Warp abilities, with further specializations expanding each role. Missions send players across planetary surfaces, void stations, and fortified installations, where cover matters, destructible scenery adds chaos, and execution moves provide satisfying punctuation to elite encounters. Gear drops constantly, while crafting, skill customization through the Inoculator, and the Uther’s Tarot mission-modifier system let players chase particular rewards or reshape the challenge. Solo play works well, but four-player cooperative missions add the expected pleasure of combining builds and turning packed rooms into total carnage.

What separates it from many Diablo-style loot games is its deliberate, tactical pace and convincing use of Warhammer 40K’s militaristic atmosphere. Rather than merely reskinning the genre with Space Marines and skulls, it builds combat around suppression, positioning, weapon behavior, and a broad sector map full of investigations and activities. The persistent progression systems, endgame assignments, seasonal-style events, and Cabal groups give committed players reasons to return beyond the story. Fans of Grim Dawn, Diablo, or Warhammer 40,000’s darker corners should find plenty to enjoy, although newcomers should expect a denser, slower RPG than an arcade-focused hack-and-slash.
