Warp

An underwater laboratory becomes a lethal escape room for Zero, a small orange alien abducted by a ruthless military commander. Warp blends top-down stealth, action, and environmental puzzle-solving into a compact sci-fi adventure with a playful visual style and surprisingly grim stakes. The tone balances cartoonish animation with the satisfaction of outsmarting guards, scientists, and automated defenses. Zero is cute, but his methods can be anything from quietly evasive to explosively vindictive.

Each area asks you to study patrol routes, security systems, vents, and breakable objects before choosing a route forward. Zero’s basic Warp power lets him teleport across short gaps or slip inside containers, while Frag turns occupied objects into deadly bombs; later abilities create decoys or swap his position with targets. Grubs hidden around the facility upgrade those powers, adding options such as longer warps, stronger blasts, and more useful distractions. Players can ghost rooms without killing anyone, eliminate every human in sight, or mix both approaches when a puzzle or a bad escape demands it.

Its best feature is how the powers interact with level design rather than simply acting as weapons: a trash bin, a guard, or a secure room can become part of an improvised plan. The campaign is fairly focused, but optional challenge chambers add score-chasing tests built around speed, kills, and precise use of Zero’s toolkit, with leaderboards giving perfectionists a reason to replay. Unreal Engine 3 visuals show their age, yet the clean top-down perspective keeps hazards and routes readable while the undersea setting gives the facility a distinct identity. Fans of the stealth experimentation in Mark of the Ninja or the compact puzzle arenas of Splinter Cell’s co-op challenges should find plenty to enjoy, and newcomers can approach it at their own pace thanks to its flexible solutions.
