Every conversation and confrontation carries weight, but the game also embraces the series’ knack for absurd detours and unexpected consequences.

Days unfold through free-roaming encounters: you investigate disputes, side with clans, take jobs, duel enemies, rob passers-by, or simply interfere with everybody’s plans. Combat uses real-time weapon stances, directional attacks, blocks, counters, and special moves, while swords, spears, polearms, and stranger tools each support a different rhythm. Looted weapons can be repaired, strengthened, dismantled, and rebuilt from a large pool of parts, encouraging experimentation instead of reliance on one perfect blade.
