Winnie’s Hole casts the player as an evolving virus pushing through organs, tissue, and increasingly hostile biological terrain in search of new cells to absorb. Its unsettling fairy-tale presentation gives the adventure a deliberately grimy cartoon mood, closer to warped children’s television and a medical nightmare than a conventional fantasy quest.

Each run revolves around spreading custom virus blocks across procedurally assembled areas of the host’s body, claiming cells, gathering resources, and opening routes toward stronger upgrades. Rather than simply moving between encounters on a standard roguelite map, players place and reshape tetromino-like pieces, making positioning as important as raw combat power. Battles play out on the Brain board, where actions arrive in unpredictable arrangements and must be fitted together to activate attacks, defenses, passives, and chain reactions in a single turn. Captured cells and earned materials unlock mutations, new viral strains, and improved block effects, allowing a weak pathogen to become a specialized engine for poison, survival, burst damage, or elaborate combo setups.

Random generation keeps runs uncertain, but success depends less on luck than on adapting a build to awkward shapes, limited space, and the host’s changing defenses.
