World War Z

A collapsing city street becomes a battlefield when hundreds of infected bodies pour over barricades, climb into living towers, and overwhelm any team that loses its nerve. World War Z is a four-player third-person co-op shooter built around these spectacular horde encounters, pairing cinematic disaster-movie panic with brisk, objective-driven missions. Its campaigns travel through New York, Jerusalem, Moscow, Tokyo, Marseille, Rome, and Kamchatka, giving each chapter a distinct setting, defensive challenge, and cast of survivors. The mood stays tense and grim, but the pace is closer to an arcade action game than a slow survival-horror crawl.

Squads push through linear but varied maps, scavenging ammunition and supplies, completing objectives, and holding choke points before the next enormous wave arrives. Guns feel weighty and practical, while silencers, explosives, turrets, electrified fences, and mounted weapons turn preparation into the difference between a clean escape and a disastrous last stand. Six core classes—Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Medic, Fixer, Slasher, and Exterminator—bring perks and equipment that encourage teamwork, and further classes in expanded editions add extra tactical options. Weapons level up through repeated use, higher difficulty settings demand smarter positioning and resource management, and online co-op lets a capable group tackle campaigns together; solo players can fill empty slots with AI teammates.

The standout feature is the swarm system: zombies do not merely crowd the screen, but pile over one another to scale walls, spill through openings, and create constantly shifting threats. Special infected force quick reactions, while randomized loot, enemy placements, and mutators keep familiar missions from becoming entirely predictable.
