Yakuza 4 Remastered

A single gunshot in Tokyo’s Kamurocho ignites a crime drama that grows far beyond its seemingly routine beginning. Yakuza 4 Remastered shifts the series away from a one-man tale by placing four very different protagonists at the center of a conspiracy involving police corruption, old grudges, money, and the yakuza underworld. Kazuma Kiryu remains the familiar moral anchor, but loan shark Shun Akiyama, escaped convict Taiga Saejima, and detective Masayoshi Tanimura bring their own perspectives and baggage to the case. The mood balances hard-edged noir melodrama with the series’ signature absurd humor, heartfelt side stories, and neon-soaked nightlife.

Each hero has a distinct brawling style, so street fights change depending on who is leading the chapter. Akiyama overwhelms enemies with fast kicks, Saejima is a powerhouse who uses the environment as a weapon, Tanimura excels at counters and reversals, while Kiryu supplies the dependable all-round combat fans expect. Missions move between cinematic story sequences, hand-to-hand battles, investigation segments, prison escape scenarios, and open-ended detours around Kamurocho. Outside the main plot, substories, arcade machines, hostess clubs, gambling, karaoke, restaurants, and combat training give the district a surprising amount of texture, even when the central narrative becomes deadly serious.

The four-character structure is the major draw: instead of merely changing combat animations, each viewpoint reveals another layer of the same tangled crisis. Kamurocho is smaller than the sprawling maps common in newer open-world games, but it feels dense, recognizable, and full of distractions in the way a favorite neighborhood does. The remaster presents the adventure at 1080p and 60fps, making its PlayStation 3-era foundations smoother and more responsive without pretending they are modern. Fans of Like a Dragon, Sleeping Dogs, or serialized Japanese crime fiction should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers can follow the core mystery despite its place within Kiryu’s larger saga.
