AFTERBLAST trades military realism for magic-infused firearms, monstrous swarms, and arenas filled with lethal projectile patterns. Its tone lands somewhere between an arcade horde shooter and a roguelite power fantasy, with every encounter asking you to keep moving, react quickly, and turn a growing collection of supernatural gear against increasingly dangerous enemies.

Combat revolves around blasting through crowds, looting magical weapons and perks from chests, and assembling a build that can survive the next escalation. A Chain Hook gives movement a major role, letting you launch across battlefields, while weakened opponents can be finished off at close range for a decisive payoff. Destructible objects add another tactical layer to arenas, and rescued Companions provide extra help during fights. Runs also feed permanent progression: crystals earned in combat improve your character between attempts, while defeated giant bosses yield souls that unlock tougher difficulties, fresh enemy types, and additional equipment. Solo play supports a self-reliant shooter rhythm, but co-op lets players coordinate loadouts, share loot, and cover one another when the screen fills with incoming fire.

Two portal-based modes keep the action from feeling like a single repeated gauntlet. One sends you toward the planet’s core for a confrontation with its ruling God, while the other unfolds across larger maps built around lasting as long as possible against invading forces.
