The tone balances serious themes of disillusionment and redemption with the colorful character banter and dramatic twists expected from a classic Japanese role-playing game.

Turn-based battles revolve around the Nexus Gauge, a shared party resource that makes timing as important as choosing the right spell or weapon skill. Saving that gauge for Nexus Skills and powerful summons can reverse a dangerous fight, while the shifting soundtrack during major abilities gives battles a bit of extra spectacle.
