Assassin’s Creed Origins

Ptolemaic Egypt serves as both a sun-drenched travelogue and a violent political battlefield, with deserts, bustling cities, tombs, swamps, and the Nile all rendered on an enormous scale. Assassin’s Creed Origins follows Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay drawn into a personal tragedy that gradually becomes the birth story of the Hidden Ones. The tone balances intimate revenge drama with grand historical spectacle, letting players meet figures such as Cleopatra and Julius Caesar while uncovering conspiracies behind a collapsing kingdom. It is a more character-focused entry than many earlier series installments, but its Egypt still invites hours of aimless wandering and sightseeing.

Combat abandons the old counter-heavy rhythm for a hitbox-based action system built around light attacks, heavy strikes, dodges, shields, bows, and weapon variety. Bayek earns experience through story missions, side quests, exploration, hunting, and clearing enemy locations, then spends ability points on tools, assassination upgrades, warrior skills, and hunter talents. Senu, Bayek’s eagle companion, scouts forts from above, marks targets, and gives reconnaissance a useful tactical role before an infiltration begins. Players ride camels, sail boats, loot ancient ruins, solve environmental puzzles in tombs, craft upgrades from gathered materials, and decide whether to approach guarded compounds silently or fight through them head-on.

Egypt itself is the star: every region has a distinct visual identity, from Alexandria’s marble streets to the dunes around Giza and the eerie ruins hidden beneath the sand. Level requirements can occasionally make the main path feel gated, and the loot system carries some RPG grind, yet the world generally rewards detours with worthwhile quests, secrets, and memorable scenery. The game also includes the educational Discovery Tour mode, allowing peaceful exploration of ancient Egypt through guided historical exhibits. Fans of The Witcher 3’s quest-driven open worlds or later Assassin’s Creed RPG entries find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers get one of the series’ strongest standalone starting points.
