Game Overview

A sterile technological institute becomes an unexpectedly tense puzzle labyrinth where magnetism is both your tool and your enemy. Attrax is a first-person, single-player logic adventure built around the simple rule that opposite charges pull together while matching charges push apart, then steadily complicates that rule into demanding spatial challenges. Its clean science-fiction rooms, ominous gaps, and fragmented hints of a buried history give the experience a Portal-like atmosphere, though the focus sits more firmly on physics manipulation than comedy or character banter.

Players move through more than 100 test chambers, studying each layout before using charged objects, cubes, field generators, and switches to open a route forward. The Charge Gun applies positive and negative forces to the world, allowing objects to be dragged into place, hurled away, or used to create momentum; in some situations, the smartest solution is launching your own body across a lethal drop. Puzzles ask for both conceptual understanding and careful execution, since a correct plan can still fail if an object is charged at the wrong time or sent flying in the wrong direction. Controls are fully remappable, which matters in a game where quick adjustments and precise movement become increasingly important.

Attrax stands out by making its central physics idea feel flexible rather than like a one-note gimmick: attraction, repulsion, positioning, timing, and self-propulsion all combine in later rooms. Environmental storytelling supplies another reason to examine every corridor, as audio and visual secrets gradually challenge the institute’s polished official narrative and can lead attentive players toward a hidden ending. The presentation is restrained rather than spectacular, but that restraint suits the lonely, unsettling facility and keeps attention on the puzzles. Fans of Portal, The Talos Principle, and other deliberate first-person brainteasers should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they prefer difficult standalone chambers and optional lore hunting over action-heavy exploration.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

How do I fix missing DLL errors for Attrax (v1.3)?

After extracting Attrax (v1.3), navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

The full archive is 4.69 GB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Do I need to run the game as administrator?

Usually, no. Start the game normally from the extracted folder. If you see a permissions or save error, check that the folder is writable and follow the game's documented fix. Only grant administrator access when a trusted game's specific setup requires it.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

Attrax (v1.3) requires a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 | AMD Radeon HD 6870 or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Check that extraction completed and your PC meets the system requirements, including Version 12. Note any error message before choosing a fix. If it identifies a missing runtime, install the required DirectX components or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

A warning needs to be investigated; the download source alone cannot confirm that a file is safe. Keep your security software enabled and review the detection details. Do not run or restore a flagged file unless you have verified that it is a false positive. If you are unsure, leave it quarantined.
