What separates Bang Bang Barrage from a standard twin-stick horde shooter is its willingness to make confusion part of the challenge instead of just dressing the action with spooky imagery. Outfit changes and strange encounters can alter your perception, while intimidating foes—including Cthulhu—turn runs into unpredictable tests of coordination and composure. Its recoil-driven movement has some of the expressive mobility of momentum-based arcade shooters, but the atmosphere is stranger, darker, and deliberately less stable. Players who enjoy compact, replayable co-op action with a Lovecraftian edge should find plenty to like, while newcomers may need a few runs to adjust to firing as movement.
