Cold water, failing light, and the constant fear of movement beyond your torch beam make Depth a sharp asymmetric multiplayer horror game. One team descends as treasure-hunting divers, while the other circles as sharks built for ambush, turning every wreck and reef into a potential killing ground. Its best moments balance pure panic with tactical play: divers hear something nearby but cannot be sure whether it is an ally, a passing fish, or a predator lining up a charge. The tone is tense and brutal rather than survival-sim serious, with sudden attacks and frantic rescues driving each match.

Divers work together to locate and haul treasure back to their base, using the cash earned to purchase stronger weapons, ammunition, equipment, and defenses during the round. Spearguns, pistols, underwater rifles, sonar tools, mines, and lighting gear give the human side options, but ammunition management and limited visibility keep even well-armed groups vulnerable. Shark players stalk from cover, exploit blind spots, and strike isolated targets, choosing from species such as the Great White, Hammerhead, Mako, Tiger, Bull, Thresher, and the enormous Megalodon. Each shark handles differently and gains evolutions that support specialized tactics, whether that means faster hit-and-run attacks, greater toughness, or more disruptive abilities; AI modes also let players practice outside competitive matches.

Depth stands out because it makes underwater movement, darkness, and sound central to its horror rather than merely using sharks as an action-movie theme. The diver perspective feels claustrophobic despite the open ocean, while the shark view rewards patience, map knowledge, and the ability to read a team’s formation. Dynamic shadows and murky sightlines ensure that no amount of gear completely removes the threat, and unlocks provide long-term incentives without replacing smart teamwork. Fans of Evolve’s role asymmetry, Left 4 Dead’s cooperative pressure, or tense Predator-style multiplayer should find plenty to like, especially if they enjoy learning both sides of a competitive matchup.
