DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark

Linda’s nightmare continues inside the Mirror Realm, a fractured supernatural crossroads where every door can lead to another cursed domain—or a brutal encounter with the dead. DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark is a standalone survival-horror adventure that expands the series’ Indonesian ghost-story atmosphere with a more concentrated, challenge-driven structure. The mood is relentlessly oppressive, trading action-hero power fantasies for dark corridors, unsettling folklore, and the constant fear that something is watching from just beyond the camera’s view. Its story follows Linda after her encounter with the Lady in Red, placing survival ahead of certainty as she searches for a way out.

Players move through haunted locations in third person, inspecting environments, collecting clues, and solving puzzles that block progress through the realm. When spirits attack, the perspective shifts to first person and Linda relies on her smartphone and SLR camera to expose, weaken, and photograph enemies. Encounters demand composure rather than raw reflexes: some ghosts require careful positioning, while panic can leave you trapped in cramped spaces with little room to escape. The game’s eight-plus interconnected dominions can be tackled in a nonlinear order, and the doors chosen along the way shape the route through the nightmare and Linda’s eventual fate.

What separates Keepers of The Dark from a conventional haunted-house game is its anthology-like selection of ghost designs and locations, each built around different supernatural threats and visual ideas. More than thirteen hostile apparitions, including creatures conceived through community input, give the game a varied bestiary instead of repeatedly recycling one stalking enemy. It also adds previously unseen areas while filling in more of Linda’s larger story, making it particularly worthwhile for fans of the original DreadOut.
