A prison transport breaks apart over Auriga, dropping its surviving convicts into an ancient Endless facility that extends far beneath the planet’s surface. Dungeon of the Endless blends roguelike exploration, real-time tactical combat, and tower-defense pressure into a tense escape story where every opened door can turn a manageable floor into a disaster. The mood is desperate but not humorless, helped by a strange cast of inmates, guards, robots, and alien survivors with distinct quirks. Reaching the surface sounds simple; keeping a fragile crystal alive while monsters pour through unpowered corridors is the real problem.

Each procedurally assembled floor asks you to recruit heroes, open rooms, collect resources, and decide where limited power should go. Dust lights rooms and lets you install defensive modules, while Food heals and recruits, Industry builds equipment and turrets, and Science unlocks upgrades. Combat runs in real time, though pausing to issue orders is essential when enemies swarm from several directions or a hero’s special ability can change the fight. Successful runs depend on balancing exploration against safety: push ahead for better loot and risk spawning more threats, or fortify a smaller route and accept slower progress. Four-player cooperative play lets a group divide responsibility between scouting, construction, defense, and crystal escort duties.

Its strongest idea is the constant trade-off between greed and survival. Unlike a conventional dungeon crawler, every new room changes the defense plan, and a previously safe corridor can become a fatal weak point once you move the crystal toward the exit. The pixel-art presentation is clean and expressive, while the Endless setting gives the random floors a deeper sense of mystery through factions, ruins, and unlockable heroes. Fans of FTL, Faster Than Light’s run-based tension, or the defensive planning of tower-defense games find a lot to appreciate, especially if they enjoy learning through punishing failures. Newcomers can grasp the basics quickly, but veterans get the most from mastering resource economies, hero combinations, and increasingly brutal floor layouts.
