Evil feels unusually domestic in Dungeons 4, a tongue-in-cheek real-time strategy game where conquering the surface begins with maintaining a suitably comfortable underground lair. The Absolute Evil returns alongside its long-suffering dark elf lieutenant Thalya, turning a fantasy war between heroic kingdoms and monstrous factions into a gleefully sarcastic campaign of corruption. Beneath colorful forests, deserts, and other overworld biomes, you carve out rooms, stockpile resources, and raise an army of creatures with very specific workplace demands. Its mood lands somewhere between Dungeon Keeper’s villainous management fantasy and a Saturday-morning cartoon that enjoys making fun of every fantasy cliché it uses.

Most of the action revolves around designing an efficient dungeon: excavating rock, placing specialized rooms, attracting monsters, researching improvements, and laying traps along routes invaders use to reach your Dungeon Heart. Creatures need the right conditions to work, eat, sleep, train, and fight, so success depends as much on a well-run subterranean economy as on brute force. Once your forces are ready, Thalya and your troops push into the overworld, seize key locations, defeat heroes, and spread Evilness that visibly transforms bright terrain into a twisted, darkened version of itself. Dwarves add extra pressure by tunneling toward your riches, while elves, humans, and other do-gooders mount raids that force you to balance expansion with defense.

Dungeons 4 stands out through its larger scale, lively biome corruption, and the constant contrast between meticulous base-building and direct fantasy warfare. The writing keeps the campaign light and knowingly ridiculous, while skirmish maps offer a stronger sandbox for players who prefer optimizing layouts and testing creature combinations. Every campaign and skirmish map supports two-player cooperative play, letting partners jointly control the same dungeon rather than simply fight on separate sides. Fans of Dungeon Keeper, War for the Overworld, or management-heavy RTS games find plenty to enjoy, and its readable systems make it approachable for newcomers who do not mind a little chaotic micromanagement.
