A spiteful alien emperor takes center stage in a retro adventure built around revenge, bureaucracy, and the humiliation of humanity. You play VValak Lizardtongue, newly elevated ruler of the Tyrythian Empire after an absurd chain of events leaves his kingdom in the hands of Earth’s aggressively incompetent invaders. His answer is not diplomacy: with his unsettlingly devoted nursing bot Milky at his side, VValak sets out to reclaim his throne and make Earth pay. The tone leans hard into British-style sarcasm, with a deliberately pompous narrator-hero, cartoonish galactic politics, and insults aimed in every direction.

Gameplay follows the classic point-and-click format associated with 1990s PC adventures. Players travel between locations, inspect environments, collect useful objects, talk to a strange supporting cast, and combine clues or inventory items to move the story forward. Progress depends on paying attention to dialogue and examining the world’s interactive details rather than mastering reflex-heavy combat systems. The focus remains on solving situational puzzles and uncovering the next ridiculous obstacle in VValak’s campaign, making it best approached with patience and a willingness to test odd ideas.

Its strongest feature is the commitment to its villain-led perspective: Earth Must Die does not ask players to save the galaxy, but to cheer on an egotistical despot who considers planetary annihilation a reasonable evening task. Voice performances and comic writing carry much of the appeal, while the low-fi retro presentation suits the intentionally old-school adventure design.
