A parallel storyline runs beside The Matrix Reloaded, putting players in control of Niobe or Ghost as the resistance fights to keep Zion alive. The tone is pure early-2000s cyberpunk spectacle: leather coats, green-tinted code, rooftop chases, impossible leaps, and gunfights where the laws of physics are optional. Rather than retelling Neo’s journey, Enter The Matrix follows characters working in the background of the film’s larger conflict, with live-action scenes created specifically to connect its missions to the movie universe.

Missions mix third-person shooting, hand-to-hand combat, stealthy infiltration, platforming, and vehicle sequences across recognizable Matrix locations and the real-world resistance network. Bullet-time-style Focus powers slow the action, allowing Niobe and Ghost to dodge incoming fire, run along walls, disarm enemies, and turn ordinary rooms into acrobatic battlegrounds. Niobe brings hovercraft piloting and driving missions into the package, while Ghost’s path leans more heavily toward covert movement and combat, giving a reason to replay parts of the campaign. A built-in hacking interface adds passwords, messages, and secret material for players willing to poke around beyond the main mission list.

What makes it memorable is its unusual status as a companion piece rather than a simple movie adaptation; its plot actively fills gaps around Reloaded and uses exclusive footage featuring the film cast. The combat can feel rough and the camera occasionally fights the player, but the game still captures the fantasy of being an operative who can bend the Matrix’s rules better than many licensed action games of its era. Fans of Max Payne’s slow-motion shootouts, third-person action classics, and the Matrix films find plenty to enjoy, especially if they can appreciate ambitious 2003 design alongside its dated edges.
