A neon-lit metropolis turns knightly swordsmanship into shift work, and every mistake threatens your employment. FUTURE SWASHBUCKLER is a compact action game with Soulslike caution at its core: you duel through dangerous daytime assignments, manage your performance rating, and face escalating boss fights after dark. Its tone is less about epic fantasy heroism than surviving a brutally demanding corporate contract in a futuristic city. Five in-game days stand between you and the ending, but a poor report can cut the run short well before then.

Each stage begins with a choice among ten modifier cards, altering either side’s stamina, damage output, or experience gains before the fighting even starts. Combat revolves around two playable characters, with a highlighted partner receiving a major attack bonus when you take direct control of them, encouraging frequent, deliberate swapping rather than sticking with one fighter. Arena maps scatter healing crosses, experience gears, company-reputation markers, and sword upgrades, so deciding when to detour for resources becomes part of staying alive. Health pickups restore both characters, while randomized sword enhancements offer different rarities and values, letting a successful run develop its own build as you collect up to three upgrades.

The standout idea is the evaluation system: victory alone is not enough when your employer expects an efficient, low-damage performance and grades every day’s work. Failing to maintain at least a B rank ends the campaign, giving the five-day structure a roguelite edge; after a loss, only acquired sword-upgrade items carry over into the next attempt. That makes it a focused fit for players who enjoy tense runs, score pressure, and the risk-reward planning of games adjacent to Soulslikes and arcade action roguelites. Controller play is essential, however, as keyboard controls are unavailable and only Xbox controllers receive guaranteed support.
