GENIE follows her search for the meaning behind a mysterious Genie and the role she is meant to fulfill, telling its tale through narrated poetry instead of conventional cutscenes or dialogue trees. The tone is contemplative and soothing, with Unreal Engine 5 environments designed to be admired at a leisurely pace. Rather than pushing players through combat encounters or survival systems, it offers a short, scenic escape with a strong emphasis on atmosphere.

Each chapter begins with a straightforward scavenger hunt as Lula searches the surrounding area for scattered crystal shards. Collecting every shard reveals a sequence of poem locations, where players stand in place, locate a nearby source of light, and focus on it to trigger a shifting camera view and the next piece of narration.
