Its anime apocalypse blends melodramatic character drama, military conspiracy, and high-speed monster hunting, creating a mood that is more urgent and personal than its post-collapse setting initially suggests. The campaign steadily expands from simple extermination orders into a story about sacrifice, scientific ambition, and the future of the remaining human population.

Missions send you into compact battle zones to track enormous targets, break specific body parts, collect their materials, and return to base to forge stronger equipment. Combat revolves around transforming the God Arc between melee weapon, firearm, and shield forms, so successful hunts demand aggressive close-range attacks, timely blocks, and careful use of ranged ammunition. Devouring an Aragami is equally important: it restores power and lets you unleash Burst Mode, a temporary state that boosts speed and damage while enabling special abilities. Fourteen weapon variants, customizable guns, craftable upgrades, AI companions, and cooperative multiplayer give the hunt loop plenty of room to grow, although some early missions feel repetitive before tougher monsters force sharper tactics.

What separates it from many Monster Hunter-style games is its brisk pace and the constant ability to switch combat roles without changing loadouts. Resurrection also adds Predator Styles, which alter how your character performs the crucial devour action and make movement, aerial attacks, and counterplay more flexible than in the original release.
