Alphonse Harding turns a quiet stretch of North American wilderness into a private war zone after refusing yet another assignment from the agency that once employed him. I Am Your Beast is a compact, aggressive first-person shooter built around the fantasy of being an impossible target: a retired operative who knows the terrain, hits first, and disappears before reinforcements arrive. Its revenge story carries a pulpy covert-ops edge, but the action is the real attraction, delivering brutal firefights at a pace closer to an arcade score attack than a slow tactical sim. Forests, cabins, cliffs, and underground passages become hunting grounds where every enemy is both a threat and a potential source of weapons.

Each short mission drops Harding into a lethal miniature sandbox with clear targets, optional challenges, and plenty of room to improvise. You scramble up trees and rock faces, ambush patrols, snatch firearms from fallen soldiers, toss weapons when they run dry, and use traps or sniper fire to control pursuit routes. The central rhythm is wonderfully direct: strike hard, keep moving, then slip into connected tunnels when the military closes in on your position. More than 20 campaign stages give the plot momentum, while fast completion times, secondary objectives, and ranked-style self-improvement encourage repeated runs. Success depends less on hiding forever than on reading enemy placement, chaining kills cleanly, and turning panic into momentum.

What separates it from conventional military shooters is its emphasis on speed, mobility, and improvisational violence rather than careful cover shooting. Its comic-book visual treatment keeps the wilderness vivid and readable even when bullets, bodies, and stolen gear start piling up, while kinetic text-driven scenes give the narrative an unusual graphic-novel energy. RJ Lake’s tense electronic score supports the escalating cat-and-mouse pressure without slowing the action down. Fans of SUPERHOT’s rapid restarts, Hotline Miami’s ruthless replay loop, or Titanfall 2’s agile FPS movement should find plenty to like, especially if they want a focused single-player campaign rather than a massive open world.
