Railbreak

Cypress Ridge burns with the gleeful excess of a 1990s zombie arcade cabinet, turning a ruined city into a fast, messy shooting gallery. Railbreak is an on-rails survival-horror FPS where the route is fixed but the panic is constant: undead pour through streets, buildings, and other collapsing corners of town while you aim for survival and a higher score. Its tone is knowingly trashy rather than solemn, pairing extreme gore with deliberately cheesy dialogue and B-movie voice performances. As a prelude to Outbreak: Shades of Horror, it offers a compact tour of a disaster already well beyond saving.

Players select from eight unlockable survivors, each bringing different weapons, traits, and tactical advantages, then shoot incoming threats while the game carries them through its scenarios. Headshots, dismemberment, weapon choice, and quick target prioritization matter when special infected and larger boss creatures force the action into overdrive. Story Mode spans six scenarios, while Score Attack rewards efficient runs and Onslaught tests endurance against increasingly brutal waves. Every mode supports solo play or two-player co-op, and controls accommodate mouse and keyboard, gamepads, and Sinden lightguns for players chasing the proper arcade feel.

The strongest hook is its willingness to disrupt familiar rail-shooter rhythms with a dynamic glitch system that can alter the rules during a run. Glitch Gauntlet adds semi-procedural roguelike unpredictability, while Boss Rush and Shoutout Shootout offer focused alternatives for players who want to practice, compete, or simply blow apart zombies without narrative pacing. Unreal Engine 5 presentation gives the blood-soaked environments more visual punch than the deliberately retro premise suggests, even as the overall design celebrates old lightgun games such as The House of the Dead. Railbreak suits arcade-shooter fans, co-op partners, and horror players who value replayable score-chasing over deep exploration or subtle storytelling.
