Koloro is a minimalist puzzle-platformer built around Kora’s search for her missing sister, Lora, through shifting realms shaped by fear, anxiety, and childhood nightmares. Its bright, storybook color palette clashes effectively with swarming shadow creatures and looming boss encounters, giving the adventure a melancholy but approachable mood. The result feels gentle on the surface, yet increasingly demanding as its nightmare logic takes hold.

Kora has only one meaningful action: jump. After transforming into a square, she automatically slides across floors and clings to movement dictated by the stage layout, while well-timed jumps let her clear hazards, rebound from walls, activate mechanisms, and avoid enemies. That limitation is the foundation of the game’s puzzle design; levels ask players to read momentum, routes, switches, traps, and enemy patterns rather than rely on a long list of abilities. The main campaign can be played alone, while a separate shared-screen cooperative path allows two players to control Kora and Lora together, coordinating jumps through the same dangerous environments. Completing the story also unlocks tougher challenges, including a harder difficulty mode and time-trial goals for players who want to master each stage.

What makes Koloro memorable is how much variety it finds inside a one-button control scheme. Bosses, puzzle rooms, moving platforms, hazards, and enemy-filled gauntlets continually reinterpret the simple act of jumping, while the dreamy visuals and atmospheric soundtrack keep the experience from becoming mechanically sterile. It carries some of the precision-platforming tension associated with games like Super Meat Boy, but its pacing is more reflective and its presentation is far less abrasive. Koloro suits newcomers who appreciate simple controls, although its late-game challenges and speed targets give experienced platformer fans a real reason to keep replaying.
