Leylines favors decisive expansion and battlefield positioning over the slow administrative grind that can bog down the genre. Its world is populated by seven sharply different factions, including spider-mounted Dwarves, mutable Theria, wandering Goblins, and the morally rotten Regency. The tone is classic high fantasy, but the emphasis on terrain-altering sorcery gives every war a suitably unpredictable edge.

Turns revolve around surveying the map, founding cities, developing faction-specific technology, raising armies, and pushing into rival wizards’ territory.
