Its tone is gleefully filthy, absurd, and self-aware, pairing demonic teen drama with rapid-fire jokes and choices that can turn a harmless lunch break into a disaster. Beneath the cartoon art and crude humor sits a surprisingly tense race to win somebody’s affection before your friends do.

Each turn sends players to a school location such as the library, gym, or class, raising hidden and visible personality stats including charm, smarts, boldness, money, and fun. Random story events present two dialogue options, and choosing the response that matches your character’s strengths earns stat boosts, items, and approval from potential partners; reading the situation wrong often produces a spectacularly embarrassing outcome instead. Between events, the shop lets you spend cash on bizarre gifts and stat-changing objects, while romance routes demand careful preparation rather than simply picking the funniest answer. Solo play works well as a branching comedy adventure, but couch multiplayer is the main attraction, since rivals can pursue the same crushes and the group’s reactions become part of every ridiculous scene.

The hand-drawn cast, packed with vampires, werewolves, demons, and stranger beings, gives the game a distinct visual personality, while its enormous pool of scenes keeps repeat runs unpredictable. Choices are less about moral alignment than understanding each love interest’s taste and building a character capable of surviving the school’s surreal social tests. Monster Prom feels like a party-game cousin to visual novels such as Hatoful Boyfriend, with the competitive bite and replayable event structure of a board game.
