Nightmare

A hostile dreamscape turns survival into a race to hold onto your mind. Nightmare is a single-player indie horror game built around tense, compact sessions where escaping matters more than simply staying alive. You awaken in an unfamiliar environment filled with ghosts, scarce supplies, and unsettling audio cues, then search for the means to rebuild your sanity before the nightmare closes in. The mood is oppressive rather than action-heavy, using realistic visuals and positional 3D sound to make every distant noise feel potentially dangerous.

Light is your most valuable resource, functioning as the route toward awakening as well as a temporary defense against the darkness. Each run asks you to comb rooms and corridors for components, combine them into usable light sources, and gather protective items for encounters with the supernatural threats stalking the map. Enemies do not remain static: their AI becomes more forceful as a session continues, changes its approach, and can call additional entities into the hunt. Runs last roughly half an hour, but randomized item placement, enemy combinations, and optional events ensure that knowledge of one attempt never guarantees an easy escape in the next.

Progress carries beyond a single nightmare through experience and Light Tokens, which unlock perks that can improve future chances and potentially affect the ending. That structure gives the game a roguelite edge without losing the focused, vulnerable feel of classic survival horror. Expert Mode goes further by revising core rules and demanding sharper reactions, quicker decisions, and a stronger understanding of its systems. Nightmare suits players who enjoy the uneasy scavenging and limited-resource pressure of games such as Amnesia or Phasmophobia’s tense investigative moments, but want a strictly solo, run-based format with a more aggressive escalation curve.
