Traversal is the star of the experience: Cutter’s jetpack lets him boost over cliffs, dash through the air, glide across large gaps, and turn vertical landscapes into navigable playgrounds. Combat takes place in third-person arenas against mechanical invaders, with a modular weapon system that allows players to combine dozens of components and tune a firearm toward explosive damage, crowd control, precision, or other preferred effects. Missions revolve around liberating Talan settlements, investigating environmental damage, meeting local characters, and uncovering hidden locations, while ancient elemental powers add further offensive options. Progression gradually opens more of Adelpha and expands Cutter’s mobility and combat toolkit, so early curiosity frequently pays off with shortcuts, resources, and useful upgrades.

Rather than chasing a giant map full of disposable icons, the game emphasizes distinct regions, local culture, and a sense that each area has a specific problem to solve. Its colorful landscapes and unusual Talan architecture give it more personality than many grim military sci-fi shooters, while Lennie Moore’s score reinforces the connection to the original. The shooting is accessible rather than brutally demanding, but experimenting with weapon modules and aerial movement gives veteran action players room to refine their approach. Players who enjoy the open-zone freedom of ELEX, the jetpack mobility of Anthem, or the exploratory rhythm of older action adventures should find plenty to like, especially if they value atmosphere and traversal over relentless loot grinding.
