Dimensional rifts turn a bright, cartoonishly destructive space adventure into one of the fastest and slickest action-platformers on PC. Ratchet, Clank, and alternate-universe resistance fighter Rivet race across fractured realities after Dr. Nefarious threatens to unravel existence with the Dimensionator. The story keeps its Saturday-morning humor and expressive character work, but the spectacle is enormous: neon pirate hideouts, lush alien cities, and collapsing portals can all occupy the same breath. Its tone remains playful rather than grim, even when the fate of multiple universes is at stake.

Combat centers on an absurdly inventive arsenal of guns, grenades, and gadgets, with weapons that level up through use and gain further upgrades through collected Raritanium. One encounter might have you freezing enemies with a sprinkler, while the next sends a fungal companion charging through robotic troops or transforms foes into harmless pixels. Platforming is equally important, as rift tethers let Ratchet and Rivet instantly zip across arenas, dodge attacks, and reach hidden paths without slowing the pace. Clank and Rivet’s robotic partner Kit also lead quieter puzzle sections built around guiding miniature dimensional creatures, giving the campaign useful breaks from constant explosions; difficulty options make the adventure approachable without stripping away challenge.

What separates Rift Apart from many mascot action games is its seamless-looking reality hopping and its willingness to treat every weapon as a toy worth mastering. It is a polished, mostly linear campaign rather than an open-world loot grind, though optional collectibles, arena challenges, armor sets, and a New Game Plus-style Challenge Mode give completionists reasons to return. The PC version offers extensive visual settings, ultrawide and triple-monitor support, unlocked performance options, upscaling technologies, and ray-tracing features, while a DualSense controller adds haptic and adaptive-trigger effects. Fans of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, Sunset Overdrive, or classic 3D platform shooters find a similarly energetic blend of movement, comedy, and satisfying firepower, and newcomers need no prior series knowledge to enjoy it.
