Dream City is a glossy dystopia where corporate control, automated labor, and social conditioning have turned youthful ambition into something managed and marketable. Rebellion GODSOUL: Awakening frames its resistance story through anime romance, otaku culture, and card-driven RPG combat, casting the player as a Rebel unwilling to surrender their ideals. The tone swings between earnest anti-authoritarian drama, character-focused downtime, and flamboyant battles in which emotion literally becomes power. Rather than treating its heroines as disposable pulls from a gacha banner, the game builds its campaign around forming meaningful links with a large cast of “Linker” girls.

Combat revolves around customizable Tactics decks, with cards functioning as attacks, abilities, and tactical options for each encounter. Players field up to three Godsouls and three Linkers at once, combining their individual cards and passive traits to create synergies suited to aggressive rushes, sustained fights, or more controlled strategies. More than 40 characters are available through normal play, and every Linker brings exclusive cards, abilities, relationship-rank scenes, and CG artwork to unlock as bonds deepen. Those who want snappier input can use Card Master Mode, including keyboard controls that can be mapped for handheld play, while RPG Mode presents the same confrontations with battle animations for a more traditional role-playing feel.

Its most appealing feature is the refusal to lock the roster behind random monetization: the full collection is part of the base experience, making deck experimentation feel rewarding instead of transactional. Relationship progression gives the character collecting a stronger narrative purpose, as each heroine has her own storyline rather than serving only as a combat stat sheet. The cyberpunk school-and-corporate setting is broad but distinctive enough to support the game’s rebellious, melodramatic anime energy. Fans of deckbuilding RPGs such as Slay the Spire who also enjoy visual-novel-style bonding systems and large character rosters should find plenty to like, while newcomers can use RPG Mode to ease into its card battles.
