Resident Evil 6 follows Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller, Ada Wong, and their partners across infected American streets, the conflict-ravaged nation of Edonia, and the towering Chinese city of Lanshiang. Its tone swings between grim zombie horror and blockbuster spectacle, often making room for grotesque body horror alongside helicopter crashes, armored monsters, and desperate escapes. Rather than telling one linear story, the game presents several connected campaigns that show the C-virus disaster from competing perspectives.

Most of the time, players scavenge ammunition and healing supplies, shoot infected crowds and bio-organic weapons, manage spacing, and use a surprisingly flexible melee system when enemies close in. Movement is more agile than earlier entries: characters can dive, slide, roll, shoot from the ground, and perform context-sensitive attacks, though the controls can feel busy during hectic encounters. Each campaign supports two-player online or local co-op, pairing Leon with Helena, Chris with Piers, and Jake with Sherry, while Ada’s more solitary route emphasizes investigation and puzzles. Skill points earned during play unlock passive upgrades such as stronger firearms, expanded ammo capacity, and improved defenses, allowing some tailoring without turning the game into a full RPG.

Its greatest strength is variety. Leon’s chapters lean closest to traditional Resident Evil, with shadowy environments and undead enemies; Chris’s route plays like a hard-edged squad shooter; Jake’s mixes hand-to-hand combat with pursuit sequences; Ada offers the most puzzle-focused perspective. The Crossover system occasionally joins separate campaigns into shared four-player battles, giving the intersecting plot real mechanical payoff. Fans of Resident Evil 5’s co-op action and players who enjoy the bombast of modern action shooters find plenty to enjoy, while purists seeking the tense resource management of the older games may find its scale and spectacle overwhelming.
