Hardboiled Chicken returns to a cartoonishly grim war against penguins, space owls, and an escalating conspiracy that is far stranger than its feathered cast suggests. Rocketbirds 2: Evolution is a side-scrolling action-platformer with a playful visual style, cinematic presentation, and a surprisingly mean-spirited sense of humor. Its campaign is split between Hardboiled Chicken’s story-driven mission and a separate rescue operation starring tiny but heavily armed budgie commandos. Both narratives can be tackled in either order, eventually linking into one larger tale.

Part 1 plays like a focused run-and-gun adventure: you shoot through enemy facilities, jump across industrial hazards, use jetpacks to reach hidden routes, and solve occasional environmental problems without slowing the pace too much. Weapons feel substantial and enemies arrive in enough varieties to keep firefights from becoming a simple exercise in holding the trigger. Part 2 shifts toward replayable missions built around rescuing captives, bringing them safely home, and adding them to a growing squad. Those recruits can be stacked into a team, equipped with unlockable gear, and taken into randomized operations alone or with up to four players through local or online co-op, including seamless drop-in support.

The split structure gives Rocketbirds 2 more range than a typical short platform shooter, balancing a crafted solo campaign against an upgrade-driven co-op mode. Its hand-drawn characters, absurd militarized birds, and soundtrack from New World Revolution give it a distinctive identity even when the action recalls classics such as Metal Slug, Alien Hominid, or modern arcade shooters. The procedural rescue missions add reason to return for better equipment and stranger character combinations, while the small PvP diversion offers another break from the campaign.
