A fleeing starship becomes a desperate series of last stands in SENTRY, a first-person shooter that mixes sharp gunplay with improvised tower defense. You awaken as one of several cryo-sleeping defenders assigned to keep alien raiders away from the vessel’s vital Core while the crew searches for a way out of hostile space. The mood is tense rather than heroic: every corridor is a choke point, every damaged system creates another problem, and a lost battle can reshape the rest of the campaign. Its sci-fi setting feels deliberately claustrophobic, making each boarding action resemble a frantic siege inside a machine that is already coming apart.

Fights ask you to do more than aim well. You move quickly through compact ship compartments, shoot aggressive invaders, scout their routes, and place turrets, mines, barricades, and other defensive tools before the pressure becomes unmanageable. Destructible environments add a welcome tactical wrinkle, since rupturing part of the hull can eject enemies into space, while sealed doors can delay a push long enough to rebuild a defense. Between encounters, the Navigator and ship overview let you choose routes and decide where to make your next stand, while found equipment and upgrades expand your options. Death does not simply return you to a checkpoint; another defender wakes up, and the ship carries the consequences of your failure forward.

What separates SENTRY from a standard horde shooter is its persistent campaign structure. Individual defenses may collapse, subsystems can be lost, and bad decisions restrict future choices, yet a damaged run remains recoverable as long as the Core and at least one operative survive. That creates a satisfying balance between roguelite adaptability and hands-on FPS skill, where a clever trap layout matters as much as a clean headshot. Players who enjoy the pressure of Sanctum, the shipboard tension of FTL, or the reactive defense planning of Orcs Must Die! should find plenty to like, especially if they want a demanding solo tactical shooter rather than a pure run-and-gun campaign.
