A mythic samurai quest drives this side-scrolling action adventure, where elemental warriors fight through a world threatened by the sinister Void Samurai. Seven Spirits leans into a colorful fantasy take on feudal Japan rather than grim historical realism, mixing martial combat with resource gathering, equipment crafting, and character-building choices. Players choose one of four elemental heroes—Earth, Wind, Water, or Fire—each with a distinct approach to survival and battle. The larger goal is to free six imprisoned spirits under the direction of Tengu, the seventh spirit, before confronting the darkness at the center of the conflict.

Combat revolves around pushing through horizontal stages, defeating enemies, collecting supplies, and adapting your gear to the threats ahead. Wood, metal, jade, and coral become improvised weapons and armor pieces, while collected cards provide bits of lore and practical clues about enemies, power-ups, and progression. Armor combinations influence skill-point growth across strength, dexterity, endurance, and magic, encouraging players to build toward harder hits, sturdier defenses, greater carrying capacity, or stronger supernatural abilities. Hero selection matters: Earth San brings extra health and hammer expertise, Fire San favors durable hammer attacks and energy efficiency, Wind San keeps her super power charging, and Water San emphasizes speed, evasion, and thrown items.

Its strongest idea is the way elemental identity, equipment combinations, and core attributes overlap, giving a compact indie brawler more build experimentation than its simple scrolling format initially suggests.
