Poland’s roughest streets become a cartoonishly violent battleground as Franko returns after decades away to help his old friend Skinny and uncover what has happened to Shorty. Skinny & Franko: Fists of Violence is a side-scrolling beat ’em up built in the proudly crude, irreverent spirit of 1990s Amiga and PC brawlers, complete with foul language, grimy urban scenery, and deliberately tasteless humor. Its hand-drawn presentation gives Szczecin an identity rarely seen in the genre: familiar apartment blocks, alleys, clubs, and local color become backdrops for absurdly over-the-top street fights. The tone is brash and juvenile by design, but the commitment to that attitude makes it more distinctive than a generic retro throwback.

Combat revolves around pushing through enemy-packed stages, clearing screens of thugs, and confronting bosses that demand more attention than the standard crowd. Franko and Skinny can throw hands, unleash special moves, and turn a huge collection of found weapons into temporary tools of destruction, so encounters reward experimenting rather than relying on one combo. Eight main levels, secret areas, bonus sequences, vehicle-driving sections, and shooting minigames keep the campaign from becoming a strictly lane-based brawl. Solo play suits players chasing a tough arcade-style run, while local two-player co-op is the natural way to enjoy the chaos, allowing both leads to tear through crowds together.

What separates it from modern pixel-art beat ’em ups is its dense, traditionally animated art, with an enormous number of hand-drawn frames giving enemies and attacks a deliberately exaggerated character. More than 80 enemy types help stages feel less repetitive, and the game’s deep-cut Polish cultural flavor gives it an appeal beyond simple nostalgia. Players who enjoy the mechanical clarity of Streets of Rage or Final Fight but want something louder, cruder, and stranger should find plenty to like here. It is best suited to beat ’em up veterans and co-op partners who appreciate challenging crowd control, black comedy, and unapologetically old-school design.
