Game Overview

Berlin’s shattered streets become a tense hunting ground where every exposed rooftop, broken window, and ruined courtyard can decide a mission. Sniper Elite V2 casts players as American marksman Karl Fairburne during the final days of World War II, caught between collapsing Nazi forces and the advancing Soviet army. His objective is less about winning battles head-on than stopping V2 rocket research and extracting—or eliminating—the scientists tied to it. The mood is grim, methodical, and suspenseful, built around the pressure of finding one clean shot before the whole city turns on you.

Most missions blend third-person stealth, careful reconnaissance, and long-range shooting across linear but reasonably open combat spaces. A successful sniper must account for distance, bullet drop, wind, breathing, sway, and cover, while loud environmental noises such as artillery fire can conceal a shot from nearby enemies. Karl carries period-appropriate rifles, suppressed weapons, pistols, explosives, mines, and binoculars, letting players distract patrols, trap routes, and reposition after a kill. The signature X-ray camera follows especially effective bullets through enemies in gruesome slow motion, showing bone breaks and internal damage with pulp-movie flair. Difficulty settings can simplify aiming or demand patient, authentic marksmanship, while cooperative play allows a second sniper to tackle campaign missions alongside you.

What separates Sniper Elite V2 from ordinary WWII shooters is its deliberate pace: charging forward works poorly, but scouting angles, timing noise cover, and escaping unseen feels consistently rewarding. Berlin is not a broad sandbox, yet its bombed-out theaters, industrial zones, and streets offer enough alternate firing positions to encourage experimentation. Included DLC expands the package with additional missions and equipment, giving returning players more targets and scenarios beyond the main campaign. Fans of stealth-focused shooters and the long-range tension of games like Metal Gear Solid V will find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers can use the forgiving settings before graduating to the demanding ballistic simulation.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Try running in compatibility mode, install the latest DirectX runtime, or install the All-in-One VC Redist Package.
