A rain-soaked Maine murder scene pulls FBI agent Victoria McPherson back into the orbit of the East Coast Torturer, a meticulous serial killer who leaves bodies but almost no usable evidence. Still Life 2 continues the unresolved story of its predecessor with a more immediate, personal threat: journalist Paloma Hernandez is abducted after claiming she holds information on the killer. The result is a grim, adult point-and-click thriller built around forensic detail, hostile motel rooms, isolated crime scenes, and the constant fear that the investigation is already too late.

Players alternate between Victoria, who follows leads and reconstructs the killer’s movements, and Paloma, who must survive captivity and search for a way out. Victoria’s sections focus on traditional adventure-game work: questioning witnesses, examining locations, combining inventory items, handling evidence, and working through logic-driven puzzles. Paloma’s chapters are more vulnerable and tense, often asking you to improvise under pressure while avoiding lethal mistakes. The two perspectives create an effective push and pull, since one woman hunts for answers while the other is trapped close to the person responsible.

Its strongest idea is the split-protagonist structure, which gives the investigation emotional stakes beyond simply identifying the culprit. Rather than relying on action, the game leans on atmosphere, dialogue, unsettling crime imagery, and sometimes unforgiving puzzle logic associated with late-2000s adventure games. Some challenges can feel obscure, and the presentation shows its age, but the serial-killer mystery and alternating viewpoints keep the pace more urgent than many slower genre contemporaries. Fans of Still Life, Syberia-era European adventures, and dark detective stories will find plenty to like, while newcomers should come prepared for deliberate exploration, close observation, and old-school puzzle design.
