After waking with no memories beyond her own name, the loudmouthed goddess teams up with the enigmatic Chrome and familiar allies to uncover what has happened to their world. The central threat is wonderfully on-brand for Neptunia: a villainous force wants to erase 3D culture and restore a strictly two-dimensional age. The result is a bright, cheeky side-scrolling RPG packed with anime banter, gaming jokes, and a plot that never takes its absurd premise too seriously.

Super Neptunia RPG sends your party through interconnected 2D areas, where you speak with oddball characters, search for routes and treasure, and fight roaming enemies. Battles use a party-based turn system built around positioning four goddesses in different roles, letting the front character emphasize physical strikes, magic, support effects, or healing. Swapping leaders changes how the team performs, while transformations raise stats and unlock the powerful Break attacks needed to finish tougher encounters. Equipment carries unlockable skills and abilities, so weapon, armor, and accessory choices matter beyond simple stat increases; the included DLC broadens the collection of extra content for players who want the complete package.

Its hand-drawn presentation is the main attraction, combining Artisan Studios’ painted environments with expressive character art that makes Gamindustri feel distinct from previous entries. The platforming and exploration remain light, and combat is more approachable than demanding, although party setup gives boss fights some welcome tactical texture. Fans of Hyperdimension Neptunia get the usual references, returning faces, and console-war satire, but the amnesia plot also gives newcomers an easy place to start. Anyone who enjoys lighthearted anime RPGs, especially games like Child of Light with less melancholy and far more meta comedy, finds plenty to enjoy here.
